Charlotte and Scott, the American Yacht Club
The American Yacht Club is an 120-year-old Long Island mainstay. Founded in May of 1883, it is the 4th oldest yacht club in the United States. It is endowed with the quiet grace and self confidence of old, well-run establishments. Bride Charlotte grew up in and around the American Yacht Club and this, along with its pristine elegance, made it the perfect location for her sophisticated wedding.
Charlotte and Scott sought a clean, classic style that matched the setting of their wedding without being too “nautical” or overly formal. They chose a white and ivory color palette with accents of vendela rose pale blush and a variety of herbs. Dark and vibrant greens enhanced the crisp look of the design.
Charlotte’s bouquet featured white ranunculus, peonies, blush roses, amaryllis, freesia buds, and two sprigs of lavender towards the back (a family tradition). The blend of classic style with garden earthiness was the perfect reflection of this couple’s personality.
The bridesmaid bouquets were slightly more petite with the same design aesthetic as Charlotte’s. They stood out brilliantly against the vibrant, summery guava pink of the bridesmaids’ gowns.
We tied a cheerful green ribbon all the way down Scott’s white ranunculus, freesia, and lemon leaf greenery boutonniere. The groomsmen’s boutonnieres were similar in design to the Scott’s, but featured freesia buds instead of open flowers.
We decorated the aisle ends with hydrangea, greenery, and long, draping organza ribbon.
Finally, we created two different centerpiece arrangements: one featured green dianthus and mint in three small mirrored cubes for a touch of freshness; the other included a silvery chalice vase bursting with hydrangea, ranunculus, peonies, roses, hypericum, anemones, green dianthus, and accents of herbs and lavender.
The detail-oriented design fit perfectly in the graceful yacht club setting and highlighted the couple’s sophistication--and their playfulness.
